Campaigners lose legal fight over £95,000 sale of historic Norfolk library

The Margery Kempe Trust had sought to take on the Carnegie Library in King's Lynn, but, after County Hall decided to sell it to the Norwich-based Garage Trust, it challenged the legality of the decision in the High Court.

They argued the process was "unfair, lacked transparency, was potentially predetermined, involved decisions made without correct legal authority and the council had not obtained the "best consideration for the disposal of land" in selling the Grade II-listed building for £95,000.

But judge Karen Walden-Smith said the council had not breached its duties over the price it sold the building for and that there was "nothing to support the argument that the process itself was unfair".........
