Showground's 'dazzling' Glitter Ball will raise cash for community food networks

The venue's Norfolk Events Centre will be transformed into a "dazzling celebration of generosity, hope and community" on May 1.

The black‑tie fundraising evening will focus on two causes at the heart of Norfolk life - tackling food insecurity and supporting the farmers who produce our food.

The RNAA Glitter Ball will raise money for Nourishing Norfolk, the Norfolk Community Foundation’s flagship programme which has created a network of affordable food hubs across the county.

The event will also aid the charitable work of the Royal Norfolk Agricultural Association (RNAA), supporting farmers and rural communities, and inspiring and educating young people to understand where their food comes from.

“This is a night where generosity has real impact,” said RNAA executive assistant Sam Berney.

“The funds raised will help ensure no-one in Norfolk is left behind, while championing the people and the industry that put food on our plates.”

Claire Mackintosh, chief executive of the Norfolk Community Foundation, added: "Across Norfolk, too many people are facing the impossible choice between heating and eating.

“Support from the RNAA Glitter Ball enables Nourishing Norfolk to back local organisations that provide dignified access to good food, bring people together through shared meals, and create lasting solutions rooted in communities.

"This event shows what’s possible when generosity, partnership and local action come together.”

Guests are promised an "evening of glamour and entertainment", hosted by comedian and adventurer Tim FitzHigham, with entertainment from internationally renowned all‑female collective High On Heels, bringing their "high‑energy fusion of DJing, live vocals, percussion and electric violin" to Norfolk for the first time.
