How precision tech and cutting-edge soil science are protecting farms' onions

After wrapping up a tough growing season, farmers, agronomists, seed breeders and machinery suppliers gathered for the event hosted by Vegetable Consultancy Services (VCS) at RG Abrey Farms, near Thetford.

Growers compared more than 60 crop varieties in the trial plots and discussed the latest developments in drilled onions, shallots, echalions and onion sets.

New technology was also on display, including the Ecorobotix spot sprayer, which uses cameras to identify weeds and apply herbicide only where needed.
