Farm sale and machine auction marks the end of 80 years of family farming heritage
The Crowe family has worked the land at Manor Farm in Wood Norton, near Fakenham, since 1943 - and three generations have seen the transition from horse-drawn farming to hi-tech mechanised food production.
The GW Crowe & Son business began with George Crowe, who was originally a tenant before buying the land in 1947.
His son Maurice remembers helping in the fields as a child during the war and, as he approaches his 90th birthday, he is still a partner in the business alongside his two sons Simon and Marcus.
Simon, 62, has a 23-year-old son Harry who designs computer games in Liverpool, while Marcus, 59, has no children.
So now, with no-one to take on the family business, the decision has been taken to sell the farm.
And its machinery and equipment will be auctioned from 10.30am on Thursday, October 23, in a sale handled by Arnolds Keys - Irelands Agricultural.
The sale will include more than 300 lots ranging from modern machines to family heirlooms and agricultural artefacts dating back to the war.
