Water firm tries to block new housing development it warns could overwhelm sewers

Anglian Water says the proposals for 20 new properties on the site at Sedgeford, near Heacham, are "an environmental risk".

Repton Property Developments and Torrington Properties want to build eight new flats in the school's main building, off Ringstead Road and a further 12 houses in the grounds.

But AW warns the development would be served by its Heacham Water Recycling Centre which does not have the capacity to deal with the extra waste it would generate.

And it adds: "Considering these concerns, we recommend that planning permission be refused on the grounds of insufficient infrastructure capacity and to prevent environmental harm."

It comes weeks after the utility firm warned it would oppose new developments in areas where its sewage........
