Humble barn could be knocked down to make way for new home
West Norfolk Council has received outline plans to demolish the structure on the outskirts of St Germans, near King's Lynn.
A planning statement says the proposals would enhance the site, on Fitton Road by removing a "visually unattractive building".
It adds a four or five-bedroom "barn-style" house would fit in with its surroundings, where there are numerous similar properties.
It says the barn stands on a "generous" plot but is no longer fit for agricultural use because farm machinery has increased in size and its single storey would mean it could only be used for storing small items of equipment.
A decision from the council is expected later this year. If the outline plans get the go-ahead, detailed proposals will have to be agreed before work can begin.
