Travellers served notice to leave after locals call for authorities to act
Great Yarmouth Borough Council has taken action over the encampment on Gorleston's Southtown Common, which it owns.
Around 15 caravans and other vehicles drove on to the land on Friday after a lock on a gate was broken.
Their arrival forced Shrublands FC, which plays on pitches in the area, to cancel dozens of fixtures over the weekend.
Under the notice issued by the council, the travellers have until 3pm today to leave the field.
