The officer was spotted parked down a track and behind some trees on private land off the A47 Acle Straight, between Acle and Great Yarmouth, on the afternoon of August 6.

When the curious member of the public approached the marked car, they were aghast at the sight of the officer with his eyes closed, mouth ajar, and sprawled out on his back.

The police officer sleeping while on duty (Image: Newsquest) "I found the police officer with his seat reclined, sound asleep. He was caught red-handed having a snooze," the male member of the public said.

"His mouth was ajar, and he looked like he was catching flies."

The member of the public then began taking images of the snoozing police........
