Pensioners at war with hotel owner over towering fence blocking idyllic seaside views
The retirement complex provides stunning vistas of the sea and a beach which often features in lists of the best in Britain.
But it might not for much longer.
The couple - and their neighbours in the Gorleston apartment block - are about to lose their view after the owner of the neighbouring Cliff Hotel started putting up a 7ft 2in fence along the length of their communal garden.
The barrier, along the top of a terrace beer garden which sits further down the cliffs below Grenfell Court, will obscure views of Gorleston beach and the sea beyond.
Residents in the complex - which has 22 flats - believe it is an "aggressive statement" by the hotel owner and follows bad blood between them which dates back to 2020, when they lodged an objection to a planning application to install lodges on the terrace.

Mrs Martin, 76, said: "When my husband and I first moved here, we just fell in love with the view.
"For that view to be taken just beggars belief. It affects all residents living here, some who are in their 80s or even older.
"They used to be able to sit and watch the music or shows at the bandstand from our garden........
