Owners of grand seaside hotel asked to 'secure building' now home to squatters
But now the Royal Hotel, on Great Yarmouth's Golden Mile, is a shadow of its former self as it is home to a group of squatters, rather than authors or monarchs.
Around a dozen light bulbs in the 57-room Marine Parade building can be seen switched on if you walk around the tired-looking structure.
Great Yarmouth Borough Council has written to the owners of the building, AYA Hotels, who bought the building in 2023 for £1.2m, asking them to secure the property.
