Impassioned plea issue to save town's beloved music and party venue
The now-empty Ocean Room closed its doors in Gorleston last year much to the dismay of locals who had enjoyed many a night there over the years.
Great Yarmouth Borough Council is considering the future of the building after several potential buyers for the property came forward.
The Save the Ocean Room campaign group had unsuccessfully lobbied the council to make the building an Asset of Community Value, which would have given the building extra protections and ensured it remained a community space.

In a new statement the group is now calling on local businesses and groups to join forces to try and keep the building as a music and entertainment venue.
In the statement, the group described the venue as a vital part of the town’s cultural and social fabric, saying it had provided generations with “gigs, concerts and all forms of entertainment” and contributed significantly to the local economy.........
