Former chapel vanishes behind village's 6ft deep 'triffid'
But Fleggburgh's Wesleyan Chapel has now all but vanished from sight behind a dense 6ft-deep thicket of undergrowth.
The state of the derelict building has prompted increasing alarm in the village, where locals have likened the bush to the book and TV series The Day of the Triffids, about an aggressive plant which starts taking over communities.
They are concerned not just that the out-of-control shrubbery may be causing irreversible damage to the Grade-II listed property but that it might soon block the road.
They have raised their fears with the parish council, which has passed them to Great Yarmouth Borough Council (GYBC), which is now investigating.
Neighbours say the chapel, on Rollesby Road, closed several years ago.

The property was sold at auction in 2009 but has been unoccupied ever since, with the undergrowth allowed to grow freely.
