Daughter’s moving tribute to 'heart of gold' father known as 'Potato Man'
Brian Charles Parker, who was born at 50 Yarmouth Road, Ormesby, on December 20, 1950, and died at the same house on September 14, 2025.
He was a much-loved figure in the village and beyond, known fondly as ‘The Potato Man’.
Mr Parker became a familiar face at the family’s veg shop, which he took over following the death of his father, Albert, in 1996.

For decades, he worked there alongside his mother, Muriel, until her death in 2022 at the age of 100.
Though he suffered a stroke in 2021, Mr Parker's determination to carry on saw him reopen the shop after a brief closure, despite struggling with mobility.
His dedication to his customers and his community never wavered.
Paying tribute, his daughter, Catherine De’Ath, said: “My dad was much loved throughout the village and beyond.
"People loved his chats, knowledge of the area and fantastic sense of humour. He had a heart of gold and would have........
