Blame game sees councillors quit in fiery row over paedophile they once 'trusted'
The fallout at Trimingham Parish Council followed the conviction of Matthew Cooper for filming a boy with a secret camera, among other offences.
Cooper is a former Trimingham Parish Councillor who once chaired a fundraising committee to raise money for a new village hall.
The meeting held on Wednesday night was thrown into turmoil as three sitting councillors in attendance dramatically resigned in the middle of the tense argument.
Among them was chairman Elizabeth King, who declared her immediate resignation for "knowing" about Cooper's arrest from as early as April 2023.

The former chair of the council said she had been aware of the “horrendous” situation from the beginning and had tried to “behave beyond reproach”, taking the view that people are “innocent until proven guilty”.
She added she had “distanced herself from the Coopers” but said: "I feel that some might not accept my behaviour, and I do not wish the parish council to come into any uncomfortable situation, hence my resignation."
