Around 15 caravans and other vehicles drove onto Southtown Common, in Gorleston, on Friday after a lock on a gate was broken.

Their arrival forced Shrublands FC, which plays on pitches in the area, to cancel dozens of fixtures over the weekend.

Families living in the surrounding area have raised concerns and say the council and police should be doing more to move the group on.

They say the grass in the park has been damaged by quad bikes and fires have been lit there.

But the travellers, who say they have come to Norfolk from the Midlands, say they could be there "a matter of days" while another said "we might be gone tonight".
