'I made 20p in one day': Market traders on battle to keep afloat
That is the message from traders at Great Yarmouth's new look market who say that takings are down as major town centre improvement works are being carried out.
It is said that the major public realm improvement works have put off people coming to the market and the situation has been made worse as the town's bus station is also closed for lane works.
Among the traders was one woman who said business has been so tough that she only took 20 pence on one day last week.
But the borough council says the end result of the town centre works, which is part of a £5.8m project to regenerate the area, will see more people flood into the market area.
The work is due to be completed in time for the Easter holidays.

“I’m fed up and angry with the council. They just don’t care, there isn’t any help apart from one month's free rent that is it, there is no advertising or promotion.
"It is just awful. We are struggling here, and it is not just me in particular," she said.
"There was one day last week where I took 20p, it’s unsustainable and unviable, I simply might have to close.
"I was £1,000 down at Christmas, £1,200 in January and I haven’t even looked at February because my heart can’t take it."
