The USAAF Heritage Trust has secured a 125-year lease on Communal Site 4 at the former USAAF Station 125 in Bungay, where the 446th Bomb Group, nicknamed the Bungay Buckaroos, was based during the war.

Trustees believe the site is the last remaining complete and largely unaltered Communal Site on any former USAAF airfield in the United Kingdom.

Kerry Wilmot, vice-chairwoman of the USAAF Heritage Trust, said: "This is far more than a collection of wartime buildings.
