Peggie Cannam, who lived in Norwich for many years, marked the special occasion with a joyful celebration at Ford Place care home in Thetford, surrounded by friends, family and staff.

A large birthday cake, live music featuring wartime classics and a birthday card from the King and Queen were all part of the day’s festivities.

Reflecting on her time in the Land Army, Peggie wrote: “A long time ago, the wartime advert said, ‘For a healthy, happy life, join the Women’s Land Army.’ So, seduced by its attractiveness, I did.”
