Applicant Mr G Coban hopes to convert the empty unit at 37 High Street in Sheringham into a fish and chip shop takeaway, operating daily from 11am to 11pm.

However, the plan has already ignited concerns among councillors and locals about the growing number of fast food outlets in the town.

There are currently 41 eateries and takeaways operating in Sheringham, and in the area surrounding the high street, there are five fish and chip shops situated within 500m of each other.
