Council leader refutes Cromer Facebook migrant post saying image shows 'church group'

Tim Adams said that a photograph being shared on social media showing a group of males next to a minibus near hotels on Runton Road was of a "church group" who regularly visit the town.

The picture was circulated by large numbers of people on Thursday night, with messages claiming it showed a group of migrants who were being moved to a town hotel by the Home Office.

The post was published on Facebook at 8.20pm on Thursday (Image: Facebook) Mr Adams personally responded to one post, saying: "The group are part of a church group that visits the town annually.

"They come with the same coach company every year, and it has never been an issue before now.

"The post is political propaganda."

The image shows around 25 males standing on the pavement beside a Sunbeam Coaches minibus on Alfred Road, near Cromer seafront.
