Small businesses to be protected by new laws cracking down on late payments
Small and medium sized businesses employ 60pc of the nation’s workforce, generating £2.8 trillion in turnover.
But late payments from big firms costs the UK economy £11bn a year – shutting down 38 businesses every day.
Now the government is set to introduce tougher laws on late payments, issuing fines worth potentially millions of pounds against larger firms that persistently pay their suppliers late.
