Saxon Packaging, at South Lowestoft Industrial Estate, closed on Thursday, its parent company Smurfit Westrock confirmed.

Equipment is currently being removed from its units in Harvest Drive, with a small number of staff believed to be staying on until the New Year to clear the site.

Smurfit Westrock did not reveal the reason for the closure, but said at least 50 people have lost their jobs.
