Newcastle United chiefs are experiencing deja vu as they head into springtime with CEO Darren Eales admitting that the size of Eddie Howe's budget could go right down to the wire.

That was the case last season when Newcastle fans watched on as a place in the Europa League then Europa Conference League slipped through the club's fingers and they ended up empty-handed. Costly results at home to Brighton (1-1) and Man United (2-3) meant that Eddie Howe's budget was dramatically cut at the end of an injury hit campaign.
