When I ran for provincial and municipal office there was one rule I had – never lie. A number of other politicians told me to, saying the only way to win was to mislead, obfuscate, and if caught, down play it, making those who question what was being said look irrelevant or foolish. This I would not do, nor would I join special interest groups merely to use people to get elected.
