I agree with locals that £8m Cambridgeshire market square renovation is plain and boring
I recently wandered down to a Cambridgeshire market square that has had millions of pounds pumped into it and was left really disappointed. St Neots Market Square has had an £8million revamp but it is still lacking a few key details, in my opinion.
I’ve found this is an opinion shared by many locals. In the past month, I have talked to business owners, residents with disabilities and other locals who are not happy with the new and improved market square.
Business owners have said the project has ‘not been done properly’, while disabled users have criticised the lack of enforcement to stop people parking in the new disabled spaces.
I have to stress that I had never previously been to St Neots, so I can’t compare the current market to the old one. Several people I spoke to said that a market day used to be a lot busier, but now it wasn't bringing in the same crowds.
I visited on a recent Thursday just before noon to see........
