Bell: Gondek wins as this awful Calgary council breathes its last gasp
One last poke in the eye. One last shot in the ribs.
They leave as they arrived in 2021. They have their way right to the bitter end, this most unpopular city council in the city’s history.
On Tuesday it is the last regular meeting of city council and Calgary Mayor Jyoti Gondek is the big winner.
Gondek came into office as mayor four years ago blindsiding Calgarians and getting the city council majority to vote for declaring a climate emergency.
Many Calgarians said they heard nothing during the election about declaring a climate emergency.

It didn’t matter. The election was over and Gondek won. Then Calgarians elected councillors on Gondek’s wavelength.
Later,........
