Bell: Danielle Smith UCP wants to hike speed limits on Alberta divided highways
Big news.
Don’t worry, the Smith government will not go ahead without asking you first.
But Premier Danielle Smith and her UCP want to see speed limits on divided highways hiked from 110 km/h to 120 km/h and if Albertans give the green light we could see that change early in the new year.
Devin Dreeshen, the Smith government’s point man on pavement, points to examples in Alberta of divided highways or stretches of divided highway, including Highway 2.

Dreeshen also points to the Trans-Canada Highway and Highway 16, also known as the Yellowhead, and Highway 3 down south and Highway 63 to Fort McMurray.
While they’re at it, the Smith government is also pitching the idea of a dedicated truck lane where commercial trucks would only be allowed to drive in the far right lane when there are three or more lanes going in the same........
