My job search has become an awkward threesome – me, the employer and AI

There are few things more stressful than looking for a job.

Maybe it’s not so bad if you’re at the top end of town and you’re weighing up a new cushy executive role over your existing cushy executive role, but if you’ve been thrown to the redundancy sharks, god help you.

Or rather god help me because that is where I find myself now. Again. Not waving but drowning in a sea of “helpful” tools and “useful” advice and career coaches and webinars on networking and getting ahead and standing out and being a brand.

I don’t want to be a brand, I just want a job.

Getting a job is the worst kind of work because so much of it is a complete waste of time. And this time around the redundancy roundabout, it feels like jobseekers are being asked to do more than ever, but I have no idea why.

Do you really need me to upload a cover letter, a resumé and reply to 12 key selection criteria for what is effectively an........
