CPP Investments investing up to $1 billion in India data centre strategy, Caisse agreeing to private deal with Stingray

CPP Investments is committing up to $1 billion to scale the digital footprint of new strategic partner CtrlS Datacenters Ltd.

The investment organization is acquiring an 8.2 per cent stake in the India-based data centre operator  by investing $588 million in the firm. Additionally, the partnership will form a joint venture to develop hyperscale data centre campuses in the country. CPP Investments is committing $441 million to the joint venture, which will provide it with a 48 per cent equity ownership stake.

“Demand for data centre infrastructure in India continues to accelerate, driven by hyperscale expansion, strong domestic cloud growth and emerging [artificial intelligence] demand,” said Max Biagosch, senior managing director and global head of real assets at CPP Investments, in a press release. “This partnership with CtrlS positions........
