According to numerology, the number 9 represents the end of a cycle, completion, and spiritual transformation.

“Numerology—known as ‘arithmancy’ prior to the 20th century—is the spiritualized study of number symbolism,” says Rachel Ruth Tate, professional astrologer and Host of the Astrology Table Podcast at Rogue Media.

“This ancient practice, like astrology, has manifold branches or specializations within the art, such as gematria and onomancy.  Every portal date … is calculated by and rooted in numerology.”

What Is the 9/9 Portal?

The 9/9 portal (occurring on September 9th) is an opportunity to release what no longer serves us and find closure—once and for all.

“Ancient mathematician Pythagoras—of Pythagorean Theorem fame—is considered the father of modern numerology, which traces its roots back to the very cradles of civilization, like Babylon, Egypt, and Greece,” says Tate. “Nine is the final single digit in the Decimal (Base-10) numeral system, giving all 9-related dates and numbers a certain finality, or resonance with some form of completion or resolution.”

“Life Path 9 individuals are considered to be humanitarians and stewards of society through empathy and compassion,” she continues. “9s must let go and accept the truth of the human experience. The same is true of this 9/9 portal… it is the perfect time to finish one stage of your life and begin another.”
