Does Anybody Have the Answers?

yesterday

I want to make it clear that I appreciate all of you who read my articles, and some of you even generously comment on them in the section below. I confess I don’t have time to read all the comments on my columns, but I do try to read some of them and respond when I think maybe I can contribute. The Townhall readers—at least most of them—are the salt of the earth and the hope of the country, and I think I speak for every single Townhall writer when I say that. And when I say, “Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”

People are different, of course, and have different outlooks and attitudes in life. As I’ve mentioned before (and recently wrote about), I’m a bit (no, a lot) of a cynic and tend to be somewhat pessimistic. There are readers who are more optimistic, and I applaud them and truly wish I could be more like them. Some of you think America is about to kick butt all over the world again, and be greater than she has ever been before. I do, do, DO hope you are right, and will rejoice with you if/when that happens, and eat whatever crow I’d need to eat. Happily.

But I also perceive, among some commenters, maybe a bit of a sense of…desperation? I make that a question because I can’t read their minds or motivations, but that’s just the way they come across to me sometimes. I’ve had several comments lately along the lines of, “Mark, what else can we do? We are doing all we can now, what else is there, what more........
