While watching the news about the Palisades fires, a CBS reporter ask a woman that lost everything how she feels.
All I could think and hope for was the same reaction that Hollie Genaro (“Die Hard”) reacted when she socked the reporter Thorneburg in the jaw.
What an inappropriate question. Are broadcast news stations so desperate for a reaction story they stoop that low?
For context of my opinion, on June 28, 1979, the house I lived in at 65-1/2 Grove Street in Amsterdam burned to the ground. (Gazette 6/28/79). Yes my family lost everything. I was fortunate enough to get there before the building collapsed.
This was a life-changing experience.
Fifteen families lost everything. My parents went to live with my sister. I was in the middle of a six-night-a-week nightclub gig and was moving up to play the summer in Lake George that Sunday night.
