EDITORIAL: Tuesday’s Spa City special election is for a vital seat
As if turnout in general elections in New York is low enough, turnout for special elections is generally even more abysmal. That might be especially true of an election in the middle of January.
For many, voting is a hassle, requiring they take time out of a work day or away from child care to show up to vote. And in the winter especially, many people are less inclined to go out in the cold and face slippery sidewalks if they don’t have a good reason.
Add that to the fact that a lot of people from the Northeast go south for the winter to escape the snow (Joke’s on you!), so the pool of voters........
