EDITORIAL: Give tax break to Greene Co. first responders
They’ve earned it. It just might help the county get more of them. And it will cost taxpayers hardly anything to give it to them.
Those are all good reasons for the Greene County Legislature to expand the real property tax exemption for firefighters and ambulance workers living in the county.
County lawmakers voted on Wednesday to hold a public hearing in February on the proposal to allow the county to offer up to a 10% property reduction for EMTs and firefighters who live in the county but who serve in an ambulance or fire company located outside the county.
