I knew nothing about you until last week, when you resigned from the Parades Commission. By that stage you had already been humiliated after the Drumcree court case.

You sent a text or email that said something to the effect that mediation was a non-starter as it would give the Orange Order an opportunity to “keep prodding” the commission.

I tried to find out something about you, so I looked up the Parades Commission’s website but your name is off the list of commissioners, so you are already a has-been there.

I read somewhere that you were a former civil servant who worked in a department in Stormont that attended to matters like reconciliation and better community relations. A bit of irony in that one.

I can’t defend you on the texting. You are old enough to know better – never put anything of importance on a text.

But that the Orange Order would use........
