Trump declares energy emergency
President Trump has declared an energy emergency, which his team has said would unlock additional powers to jump-start production.
The declaration unlocks additional authorities to allow the U.S. to bolster energy production, an official told reporters on Monday morning.
However, it was not immediately clear what powers are unlocked by the order.
Speaking about the declaration from behind the desk of the Oval Office, Trump said "that means you can do whatever you have to do to get out of that problem. "
"And we do have that kind of an emergency," he added.
