Where in the US are seniors most often scammed?

(NEXSTAR) – It’s become a regular part of the day for millions of Americans, having to deal with random messages and phone calls from unknown numbers that are most likely trying to scam you.

Whether it’s on the phone, through texts, email, social media, you name it, people are trying to scam others out of their money.

And in a world that’s become so reliant on digital banking, payments, and communication in general, scammers have more ways to reach victims than ever, particularly elderly people over 60.

According to the U.S. Department of the Treasury, roughly $27 billion was exploited from seniors in 2024.
