The Onion says it’s reached a deal to take over Alex Jones’ Infowars

(NewsNation) — The Onion says it has reached a deal to take over Infowars, the website founded by conspiracy theorist Alex Jones.

Ben Collins, CEO of The Onion’s parent company, Global Tetrahedron, announced the deal in a post on BlueSky Monday, saying it was made with the help of the Sandy Hook families.

The satirical news site posted a video declaring “the new Infowars is here,” with comedian Tim Heidecker serving as “creative director.”

The deal — which still requires a judge’s approval — would have The Onion’s parent company pay $81,000 a month to license Infowars.com and its associated intellectual property from Gregory Milligan, the court-appointed manager of the site, according to The New York Times.
