The highest-paying jobs in the US, according to federal data

(NewsNation) — It pays to be a doctor in America, especially as confidence in the U.S. economy is waning.

Physicians and surgeons dominate the nation’s highest-paying occupations, according to new federal wage estimates for more than 800 jobs in the U.S.

Pediatric surgeons topped the list with an average annual wage of $502,050, followed by cardiologists at $454,940 and radiologists at $381,530.

Those figures are well above the average wage of $69,770 across all occupations, though most of the top-paying jobs require years of additional education and specialized training.

Outside the health care sector, airline pilots, chief executives and athletes ranked among the highest-paying occupations.

The latest estimates are for May 2025 and are based on wage data collected by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.........
