Access all areas pre-season before Swindon Town friendly
Ahead of Swindon Town and Swindon Supermarine’s first friendly this weekend, The Adver took a behind-the-scenes look at how teams prepare.
The public part of pre-season gets going for most clubs this weekend, and that will bring a host of things. Among them will be the classic manager's answer that results don’t matter, and it is more about the work that people don’t see. So this summer, I decided to find out what they meant and go behind those closed doors.
With the permission of the new Swindon Supermarine manager, Bobby Wilkinson, I was granted unlimited access to one of their training sessions as they prepare to face Town this weekend.

The session at the Swindome began with a team meeting, reviewing the in-house friendly from two days earlier. The first thing I noted was the way Wilkinson went about his meeting. The 45-year-old has won multiple promotions in his career, and everything was clearly designed to build the right mentality.
