When we need a little help, it's okay to ask.

When anyone asks me to describe my mother-in-law, I tell them about the cookies.

It all began with oatmeal. Mother’s Day was coming, and our son was wondering what Grandma would like for a gift. He asked her. She told him.

And just to be sure there was no misunderstanding about him running into a market and grabbing a box off the shelves, she added: “I haven’t had a good, homemade, oatmeal cookie in a long time.”

Being very capable in the kitchen, and his Grandma knew this, Geoff rose to the occasion. He found a tasty recipe on the internet and baked a good-sized batch of oatmeal cookies. When Mother’s Day rolled around, he stopped by with a foil package tucked under his arm and handed it to her with a broad smile.

There he sat next to her at the table, watching as she pulled back the foil and picked out one of his creations. There he waited........
