According to the Knot’s 2026 Real Weddings Survey, about 40% of the proposals that are made in a year occur between Thanksgiving and Valentine’s Day, with the most popular month being December. This means early fall is a time of really important consideration. For many, it might also mean a lot of doubt and anxiety. Maybe you already have the ring and a proposal plan, but are hesitating. To move forward with confidence, you are going to have to address your anxiety. Ignore it and it will only intensify.

It is easiest to engage with an emotion if you understand what it is trying to do. All emotions are here to help us, even if they are uncomfortable. To work through proposal anxiety, there is one main question you need to ask yourself: What is the anxiety trying to tell me?
