4 Ways to Show Up for Autistics This Autism Acceptance Month

As an autistic psychologist, April is always a busy month. Autism acceptance is the hot topic, so I get asked about resources, education, and support from my neurokin. I also get questions from non-autistics who want to show allyship to my community.

In response, I have put together four ways that you can show up for autistics during April. As with everything I write, this list will not be fully exhaustive, but you are welcome to use it as a starting point.

The motto of the Autistic Self-Advocacy Network is, “Nothing about us without us.” What does this mean? It means that any discussion related to autism needs to include and center autistic voices and perspectives. It means that research about what supports “help” autistic people needs to be run by autistic researchers and focus on outcomes that center on the autistic........
