ACROSS the globe North South East and West Climate change is no longer an abstract idea or the dire warning of some alarmist environment freak. It is no longer a distant threat discussed in scientific reports and international climate conferences it is now a stark livid frightening reality. Rising temperatures, extreme weather conditions, biodiversity loss and environment degradation are hitting communities all over the world with the poorest and most vulnerable bearing the greatest burden.

In Pakistan the climate crisis is here in full fury it is no longer an abstract or future oriented theory. The ominous threats of this change can now be seen in the erosion of river banks, flash floods, melting of glaciers, long heat waves, increasing temperatures, pressures on food security, increased salinity in coastal areas and dangers to public health. Environmental degradation and climate change have become defining challenges of our time, affecting not only ecosystems but also livelihoods, human rights, and sustainable development. This year’s World Environment Day theme underscores the urgent need for climate action. While governments continue to negotiate global commitments, the reality is that meaningful change must also emerge from communities, institutions, educational establishments, and individual citizens.
