World Kidney Cancer Day 2026

Every year on June 19, the international community observes World Kidney Cancer Day to raise aware-ness about kidney cancer, promote early detection and encourage better access to treatment and sup-portive care. As the global burden of cancer contin-ues to rise, this observance highlights the impor-tance of recognizing kidney cancer as a growing public health concern that requires timely diagnosis, preventive strategies and stronger healthcare sys-tems.

Kidney cancer occurs when abnormal cells in the kidneys grow uncontrollably and form tumors. Among adults, renal cell carcinoma is the most common type of kidney cancer.
