Ethno-terror nexus and GSP+ status
A combination of hardcore terrorist outfits and ethnic groups working under the guise of human rights advocacy is posing credibility challenges to Pakistan on the international stage.
Misleading campaigns by such groups have the potential to damage the national standing during international assessments, such as the one being conducted by the EU for GSP status. After Pakistan and Afghanistan failed to agree on a workable security plan, banned terrorist groups have been aggressively using digital media platforms based in Afghanistan to smear Islamabad. This surge in negative messaging fits a long-standing pattern in which complex regional issues are oversimplified and blame is shifted, rather than fostering real cooperation.
A recent tweet campaign from suspicious accounts continues this agenda, despite repeated UN reports confirming that IS KP and TTP terrorists operate primarily from inside Afghanistan. Platforms linked to........
