Shoplifter fined after member of the public helped with his arrest
They helped officers with the arrest of a Christopher Cassar, 53, of Thurlby Road, Norwich, on April 16 in St Benedicts Street.
He has been described by Norwich Police as "a prolific shop theft offender".
Cassar was later charged with five counts of theft from shops.
Last Friday, he appeared in court and was ordered to pay a fine.
A spokesman for Norwich Police said: "Retail crime has a significant impact on retail workers and communities and our officers work hard to disrupt and investigate it to ensure offenders are brought before the courts."
