And memories have been shared of the former Talk on Oak Street, which was badly damaged in a blaze on Thursday night.

Smoke could be seen billowing from the roof, and people living in the area were urged to close windows and doors.

An investigation is now underway after fire investigators arrived at the site on Friday morning.

The venue closed down in 2022, after entertaining crowds with live music in the city for 65 years.

It had been open as The Talk for 15 years after first opening as The Industrial Club on December 20, 1954.

Former BBC Radio Norfolk Presenter David Clayton, who also used to be a resident DJ in the 1970s, has spoken about the role the venue played.

Mr Clayton said: "It's very sad to know there was a fire because it's been a really important place.

"So many people met there, did their courting there, and also got married because they used to do weddings in its latter years as well."

Former local radio DJ, Chrissie Jackson, also used to host evenings at The Talk with her co-host, Rob Chandler.

The pair hosted 80's nights that consisted of crowds singing along to their favourite tunes, and especially the 80s fashion and makeup.

In 2022, it was announced that it was closing down due to COVID fears and restrictions.

Lease holder, Vicky Newson, said bills were "mounting up" with the venue struggling to attract punters due to worries about catching the virus and slower entrance due to vaccine passports.

Since closing, it had been left derelict until a planning application was submitted to turn it into a commercial premises in 2025.
