New details about how the teenager was manipulated into a life of crime, which ended with him being murdered by rival gang members in Vale Green, have been revealed in a new documentary.

In Channel 4’s Social Media Monsters, the 18-year-old’s mum Emma Dix said that the family had observed a sudden change in Mr Dix in December 2016, when their son became short-tempered and was “angry all the time”.

She said: “Different clothes would come into the house, coats that were probably worth £1,000, but there was always an explanation for them.

“Over the years, Joe continued to change. He wouldn’t turn up to meet you when you were supposed to be picking him up.”
