Three centuries frustrate England as India force a draw in Manchester Test
New Delhi: With his fourth century of the series, skipper Shubman Gill showed the way. Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar took the cue and followed through with valiant hundreds of their own as India denied England a series-clinching victory in the final day of the fourth Test in Manchester on Sunday.
Gill’s 103, Jadeja’s unbeaten 107, his fifth Test century, and Sundar’s 101 not out, his maiden Test ton, pulled India to 425/4 at stumps, having resumed the day at 174/2 as England bowlers tried hard but couldn’t breach the spirited defence of the visitors.
Jadeja and Sundar’s unbeaten 203-run partnership blunted England’s spirits so much so that England skipper Ben Stokes offered to shake hands to accept a draw........
